On October 12, 2011, the 100kt/a liquid carbon dioxide unit designed by our company for Hebei Kaiyue Chemical Group began feedstock testing. Under the guidance of our technical service personnel, the unit achieved a successful first-time startup despite the feed gas containing only 85–88% carbon dioxide, producing qualified products. The product purity reached over 99.95%, meeting the standards for liquid carbon dioxide (GB/T 6052—93).
Hebei Kaiyue Chemical Group is a large private enterprise with coal chemical and wood processing as its two main pillars. With fixed assets of nearly 2 billion yuan, the Group is one of Hebei Province’s key private enterprises, a leading industrial enterprise in Langfang City, ranked among China’s Top 100 Petroleum and Petrochemical Companies, and among the Top 50 in the national nitrogen fertilizer industry. It is the world’s largest producer of formaldehyde and the world’s largest producer of dimethyl ether. The Group has an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of synthetic ammonia (including 200,000 tons of methanol, 100,000 tons of liquid ammonia, and 200,000 tons of fertilizer), 1 million tons of dimethyl ether, 600,000 tons of formaldehyde, 1.5 million cubic meters of medium-density fiberboard (MDF), and 20,000 kW of installed capacity for biomass and waste gas power generation.
The newly constructed 100kt/a liquid carbon dioxide facility fully utilizes industrial CO₂ emissions from the PSA decarbonization unit of Kaiyue Chemical Group’s synthetic ammonia system to produce liquid carbon dioxide for the market. This reduces CO₂ emissions from the synthetic ammonia system’s exhaust gases, aligns with the requirements of the 12th Five-Year Plan, and delivers significant social and economic benefits.
